Actress and former Doddington resident Vicki Mason is appearing in an upcoming musical that makes up part of the world famous London Fringe festival.
‘Damn Yankees’ is playing at the Brockley Jack Theatre in South London (map) from April 1 to April 12, and Vicki told the Doings she is “really enjoying” the experience.
“I found out about the part from an acting advertisement website that I belong to,” she explained. “I auditioned, was recalled for a second audition and received the role of the quirky spinster ‘Doris’.”
She said that Doris is a friend of the lead female character, and that her character “actually appears on roller-skates for one number”.
The musical is described on its website as “Faust meets Baseball in this new production of the classic Broadway musical”, and originally opened on Broadway in 1955.
Currently residing in Wimblington, Vicki said that she commutes to London twice a week for rehearsals and may have to stay over once the show begins.
The ultimate aim, she added, “is that it may lead to my next role”.
