The Doddington Carnival & Sports is held every year on the first Saturday of July. The event dates back to 1922, and the 2015 celebration is on July 4th – and there’s plenty you can still enter, as you can see below.
Enter A Float For the Carnival:
Don’t forget the theme this year is American Entertainment and we welcome floats from organisations, families, groups of neighbours, individuals or just groups of friends who get together and want to have fun. And this year, the Committee is offering tractors, lorries, trailers, drivers and building spaces to make it even easier for anyone to build a float (click for more information). Please contact Jason Shepherd (079807 95398) if you want to enter a float, need a trailer etc.
Enter the Tug-Of-War Competition:
We have been asked if we could hold a Tug-of-War event again on Carnival Day. To enter your team, call: 078678 05785.
Enter the Scarecrow Competition:
We will be running the Scarecrow Competition again this year. For full details and application form please contact: Nicky Hornsby by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (740154).
Enter the Soap-Box Competitions:
For more details please call Mike Manze: 740068.
Adverts for the Carnival program:
We will soon be starting to put together the Carnival program and obviously look for business to support us with their advertising. Did you realise the adverts aren’t just in the program they also go onto the website? Are you interested in promoting your business and supporting the community at the same time – please let us know if you are.
Our next Carnival & Sports meeting:
Our next meeting is on Thursday 12th June at 8.00 pm at The George. If you would like to come along or give your apologies then please tell our Secretary – Nicky Hornsby at email@example.com or call 740154.
Minutes of last meeting

Carnival Day is drawing closer. Don’t forget if you would like to enter a float, we can provide a lorry & trailer, an area to assemble your float, straw bales & lots of helpful hints & tips. There is no entry fee, simply get in touch & let us know your float name & theme.
