Monthy Report

Annual Council Meeting

Councillor Christine Curtis was reappointed as Chairman of the Parish Council for a further year and Councillor Anne Chambers was reappointed as Vice-Chairman.

Benwick Road Cemetery

The new cemetery gates have now been installed and, in due course, the Council will be making arrangements to formally mark the completion of the construction work.

Abbey Field Recreation Ground

New security screens have been ordered to replace those damaged by vandalism and will shortly be installed.

Fly tipping

Members discussed the growing number of incidents of fly tipping within the Parish and considered a number of suggestions whereby Fenland District Council can monitor and clear the affected areas. It was hoped that by closer notification of incidents enough evidence may be obtained for enforcement action to be taken against those responsible.
The next Parish Council meeting will take place in the Pavilion, Benwick Road on Monday 16th June 2014.
For residents information, the Clerk to the Parish Council can be contacted on 01354 680892 or by email at

Why do vehicles in Wood Street insist on parking on the path, not just a bit of it but the whole path forcing people with pushchairs/dogs to walk in the road. It is not a busy road but I thought the pavement was there for pedestrians, obviously not.

It is illegal to cause such an obstruction, but the Police need to be informed of it

read something about the hgv’s travelling through doddington. all sorts of excuses from the transport companies. BUT the level of heavy goods vehicles travelling through doddington has now reached unacceptable levels. i live on the high street and it’s like the A1 at times.
